Bethlehem & Shepherd's field

Very disappointing, although most of what we've seen is disappointing.  It would have been so much better had man left things alone, simple, in their natural state.  But it seems every site where something eventful happened, the Catholic church marked the spot and built a shrine around it.  So we most often enter a church and somewhere in the basement or on the floor is marked with a significant event.  The church itself is nothing but a monument to man with a Jesus sticker on it.

Don't get me wrong.  Some parts of this trip are incredible.  Just the geography, topography and vastness of this country with it's proximity of outlying areas to the Temple mount are unmatched.  Some have stated that Bethlehem is only 5 miles from Jerusalem and could be an easy walk.  NOPE! Bethlehem may be 5 miles by GPS but by foot, through the valleys, around the mountains and over them would be more like 20 miles and certainly all day walking.  It was exhausting just to get from the Temple mount to the Mt of Olives and that is literally less than 1/4 mile.  It took us almost and hour and a half.

Here are the pics of the shepherd's field and church of the nativity........no words.
