Others teach that this is part of a "covering". Kippah's (small little cap) came into being from these type interpretations and you will see almost all Jewish boys and men wearing them. Still, the hard core or orthodox (meaning rabbis have had their grubby hands on it) teaching is that men must grow out the hair only on each side of the head as well as the face. They curl this hair and usually have graduated from a kippah to a full top hat. Although not exclusive to Israel, here are the products of all this false teaching and idolatry. Remember, if we make up the law and people follow it, they are no longer following YHVH but instead, following the one who made up the law. That should give us all pause!

Pet Peeves part 2
Just had to throw this one in on the mix. Torah instructs not to cut the corners of your beard or shave the sides of your head. In the very next verse, YHVH tells us what He's talking about. Certainly He doesn't mean not to get a haircut or a shave does He? Of course not. In fact He commands both a haircut and a shave in other places in the bible so what does He mean by this instruction? It's another pagan ritual. This time it has to do with mourning the dead and participating with pagan worship. HOWEVER, you will find all sorts of teaching out there from this one passage alone. Some teach that all men must have a beard. Their defense is that if YHVH put it there, then He means for it to be there and shouldn't be cut off. That interpretation stops short when we're talking about hair a few inches higher on the body, though. Apparently, it is okay to cut off hair that YHVH put on top of the head but not the bottom or sides of the head.
