If anyone ever told you that traveling is fun.....they must be talking about getting to the destination. The actual "travel" is exhausting, even in first class. We had individual pods and were treated like royalty. They served a 5 course dinner (after midnight) which Bret partook but I chose to sleep. Afterall, 9pm is my bedtime and those of you who know me, know that I LOVE to go to bed. I did wake up around 2 or 3 just in time to eat cheese and fruit passed around on a beautifully dessert cart.
Now for some serious business. I snapped a few photos of some fellow passengers. Without trying to be mean or hurtful, I just have to say that this scene going on around me this morning by several men, was painful to watch. Why?...you ask? Because these rituals are nothing but idolatry at it's finest. The rituals are not biblical. They are not even religious. They are man made gestures that serve only to distance themselves from dealing with YHVH as His word commands.
Orthodox Judaism is not based on the truth of Torah. Hate to break the news out there but these type "laws" are what Yehoshua fought against, broke, and that angered Him the most. When we follow the traditions of man, we are no longer following YHVH, the Creator. It's that simple!
Notice the leather box on the guys head and the leather strap around his arm. I saw three different men get up this morning, stand, put on a prayer shawl and go through this ritual. So sad. YHVH does not want to compete with the laws that some rabbi somewhere in the 1st or 2nd century BC came up with. In fact, when He declared His instructions to Moses, He said "write it down". Moses obeyed. So the Torah is not incomplete or lacking additional rabbinic interpretation, i.e.: Talmud. Unfortunately, there was not an opportunity to address it with any of the three of these men or I would have. And those of you who know me, know that is true.
"So sorry, Father. We are a stiff necked lot!"
