I just showed you the way back into the city from the Mt. of Olives. Yeshua spent His last night in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemene where He was arrested. He would have been taken back across the Kidron Valley through this Lion's Gate into the city.
According to scripture, He was whipped at the Praetorium. Although, as we walked back into the city through this gate, we stumbled upon a structure that claims this was where Yeshua was scourged and beaten. We have no idea how much of this has changed or whether any of these assumptions are true. This avenue is called later, Via Dolorosa so it would make sense that after being mutilated, He would have carried the cross to Golgotha from this point. Now it is lined with Muslim shops making money off of Christian paraphernalia. It is all rather disgusting. I know I use that word ALOT!
